This culminated in the 2011 Productivity Commission report and subsequent reform proposals. In accordance with the Living Longer, Living Better amendments of 2013, assistance is provided in accordance with assessed care needs, with additional supplements available for people experiencing homelessness, dementia and veterans.

“If a patient does experience the symptoms of a stroke, it is vital to receive appropriate clinical assessment and scanning in hospital early to confirm it is a blockage of a blood vessel. Patients are then referred to our interventional lab in Beaumont Hospital, the main route to thrombectomy. We will do an endovascular procedure, puncturing the artery and groin to pass a tube in the blood vessels up to the neck and head. Through the tube, we place a stent retriever, which pulls the blood clot out, restoring blood flow to the brain tissue.
Medication reminders, disorientation assistance, and personal care services such as toileting, bathing, and entering and exiting beds and other places of rest are included in our home health care services at all times of the day or night. If a client wakes suddenly and is completely disoriented, our care aides are trained to calm your loved one and help him or her back to rest.
